Izmir is the port city in which the ship docked. Ephesus is an important ancient city that was abandoned after silt filled the harbor, turning it into a marshland and causing an outbreak of malaria. The city itself was eventually buried and, according to our guide, only ten percent of it has been excavated.

Advertising
We're not going to tell you what they were selling. Just keep in mind that Ephesus was a major port in ancient times. There was a hidden tunnel between the library and this establishment.
